Big Shoes: The Crazy Premiere of ‘The Bigfoot Hunter: Still Searching’
On October 21st of 2011 we premiered The Bigfoot Hunter: Still Searching, our documentary about a couple small town bigfoot hunters, to a sold out crowd at the Waverly Opera House in Waverly, New York.
We went to great lengths and took great care to make the evening special. In fact, we partnered with a local Burger King and ordered a Whopper (the star of the film’s dinner of choice) for every audience member. We had laminated goodie bags filled with limited edition stickers, glow in the dark pins, bigfoot themed candy, and the occasional t-shirt emblazoned with the movie logo. A lucky member of the crowd with the loudest Bigfoot call even won himself a genuine bigfoot cast. Then, we all went and got ridiculously drunk with all our friends at the after-party. The evening was, unequivocally, our greatest public event yet.
But the hours leading up to the event, right up until the moment people began to take their seats, was an entire story unto itself. Luckily, we had the cameras running (almost) the whole time.
What follows is a tale of missing persons, hamburger surpluses, roadside breakdowns, small town newspapers, big cable production companies, marriage proposals, drug addiction, irish hobos, mysterious semen stains, and just barely, but triumphantly, pulling off something big. This is a snapshot of the weekend we premiered our very first movie to the public and all the absolutely crazy things that happened behind the scenes.
Sorry you missed it? Don’t fret, because we’re working on bringing the film to a city near you. You can keep up with the film, chat with the cast, find out where it’s coming next, and see exclusive clips and photos over at the official Facebook page. The question is, where do you want to see Still Searching next? Let us know in the comments!
